Altered Moustrap - Fridge magnet

Hey there I just wanted to share with you an altered moustrap I created for my mum.  I adhered a magnet to the back so you can put it on the fridge and hold a photo or a memo pad or maybe your shopping list.

So easy and fun to make.

I painted the magnet with a couple of coats of lavender acrylic.  I then embellished it with a little bit of cotton lace, some ruffled trim.  The paper flower, little acrylic pearl bow and pearl trim I got from Retailgirl.  I love to embellish with all her goodies so be sure to come check her out.
I attatched a little heart charm and there you have it a cute gift for someone special.

Hot fix Crystals - Fairy Trinket Box

Hey guys it's Tasha here and I just wanted to show you a couple of things that I have been doing with my Hotfix Crystals.
My favourite ones are the Aurora Boriellis (AB)  I love the irridecsent sparkle they have to them.  So when I go to use the crystals it's usually those I reach for.
I created this Fairy Trinket Box using some amazing Laser cut chipboard pieces from Imagine if.... The Box (which you assemble), the butterflies and the sweet fairy are all laser cut peices that I have used to create this memory box for special keepsakes.

I think the hot fix crysatals give this Trinket Box a real enchanted feeling the problem I have is knowing when to stop embellishing because it is so much fun playing with these gems.

These hot fix crystals are great to embellish so many things.  They are designed specifically to be adhered with the hotfix tool but here I just used strong clear wet glue.

You can see above I have just added them wherever to give that extra sparkle.  What you can't see is how much sparkle but these crysatls set off beauttiful rainbows when the light hits...how magical!!!!
The flower is also an embellishment you can get from Retailgirl and I will be featuring them in the near future.
As well as showing you some techniques to achieve this shabby look with your metal pieces and findings.

Thanks so much for joining me. Be sure to check out the links below to keep up with all my crafty carry ons and see where else I use all the gorgeous products I get from Retailgirl.  Also be sure to come over and join us on Facebook thats where we hang out :)

Rossette Trim!! Just can't get enough!!

Hey there creative people:)
I hope everyone is having a great week and managing to get in a little crafting here and there.
It's been a little bit quiet here at the Retailgirl blog.  I have been head down tail up getting ready for a show that I had on Saturday...and now have DT team projects to catch up on....and if you have been over to our FB page you would of seen that Louise has been very busy getting her crochet on.

Anyhooooo....today I just wanted to share with you a couple of pics of the gorgeous Rossette Trim that Retailgirl has available...and show you the wide range of colours you can get.

Above as you can see are the brights....and they are just so fun and gorgeous and would brighten up any craft.  As a trim or cut to make individual flowers these rossettes look beautiful.

Below are my favourite colours....a little more muted but still gorgeous and vibrant...they are the shabby colours.  Louise tells me I need to have a bit more colour in my life....and I love colours and have been breaking out a bit more in my crafting but I still have to say the neutral tones...beige..cream...ivory...white...mmmmmm still make me drool :)

You can see by cutting into and individual flower and adding apibbon slider with a beautiful pearl you can easily make these blooms look amazing for so many of your creations...hair accessories, clothes, journals, cards, I love to add them to the Mini Albums I make as they sit quite flat...so many ideas.

Here I have a vid on haw I make these rossette a little bit shabby...I show you how you can play around to get different looks and change them up a bit and really to just have fun with your supplies....hopefully you will get inspired to brighten up you crafty world with some of these blooms...or should I say MORE of these blooms :)

Don't forget to come see us over on our FB page...thats where Louise and hangout.
Happy Crafting everyone.

Hey Crafters
Hope everyone is having a great day and managing to get a little creative infusion into their lives.
If you have been joining us over at Retailgirl on Facebook,  you would of seen that last week Louise shared with us a little insight of her creative space.  Sometimes crafting can be quite solitary...(certainly for me as most of my crafty friends are online)  so I always find it really intriguing to see where people do there crafting..where there "happy place" is.

So if you missed it on FB here are some of the pics
Who wouldn't feel inspired to create sitting here at this gorgeous inspiration station.

 OOoooOOOooo
wouldn't you love to go crazy with all this yummy goodness.  It's a rossette rainbow.

Oh my this is a feast for the eye's...I gasped with amazement when I saw all these pearls as the are my absolute weakness and must have for so many of my projects.
What a treat to have a candy station like this!!  and this candy is so much easier on the waistline.

and there we have it guys a little peek into the world of Retailgirl.
I always love to see other crafters storage solutions and personal style.

thats it from me today I will see you soon with some more crafty carry on's.
Take care everybody and CRAFT ON :)

Hey there - Tasha

Hey there
My Name is Tasha and I am so fortunate to be the designer here at Retailgirl.  Like many of you I started out as a customer I love Louises products because just like her I got frustrated seeing craft supplies that were so hard to get here in New Zealand.

As you can see our blog page is looking a little bit bare and we need to spruce it up with some crafty pics....some inspiration from myself and some of our crafty friends.

I have some big plans for our blog here at Retailgirl...so I will be keeping this lil spot of ours updated with fun stuff and all the necessary info you may need for tutorials...giveaways and all that good stuff and hopefully we will have Louise pop in and share what she has been up to :)

Here a few pics of some of the crafts I do using products from Retailgirl.

As you can see I love to use the flat back pearls for most of my flower centers.  Retailgirl has them in so many colours and sizes you are gonna need them all hahaha.

Recently I have been playing around with the hot fix tool and the hot fix crystals.  Here are some of the things I have been making extra gorgeous with the crystals.

Blinging up some applique. I wish you could see this in reality.  The Aurora Borealis Crystals are amazing and they let out the most beautiful iridescent shine.

Had a play with dressing up some leather bracelet's.
These made some really cool gifts for friends.

My newest addiction with the Hotfix Crystals at the moment is customising Shoes and these are a pair of my daughters wedges that I got all creative with.  She wanted the crosses but the ideas are endless...hearts...skulls...stars...personalise with words...ooooo Im on the hunt for more shoes!!

So guys that's me for now.  Here are a few of my links where you can see more of my crafty carry on's and you will notice there are very few projects I create that don't have some yummy goodness from Retailgirl

Craft on!!!!

Welcome to the new Retailgirl Blog

So I thought I would start out with a bit of a story about me and how retailgirl came about.

My name is Louise de Lore and about 3 years ago my life changed forever.  My wee world came crumbling down and after the dust settled I didn't know what I was going to do.
So as you do when everything changes you pop on your PJ's and watch youtube,  then you watch some more youtube, then you think hey I can do that.  Next thing you are signing up to do swaps and making all sorts of crazy things you had no idea you could do.
The problem I had is that everything I wanted was in America or way to over priced in New Zealand.  Making a simple swap was costing a fortune.  So I did something about it.
I started out making ribbon roses and then selling flatback pearls.  I had my glue gun a pair of scissors some ribbon and about a shoe box (I still have the shoe box) full of other goodies.
I wanted everyone who was kind enough to support my endeavours to feel the way I do when I get a swap  from a friend.  So I loving wrap each purchase in pink tissue and decorate each parcel.  You may notice if you have purchased off me on trade me that sometimes your parcels are filled with lots of extra goodies?  This is my way of spreading the love and kindness that has been shown me.  I just hope that I can bring joy to someones day and maybe somehow that makes the world a better place.
I don't own a huge scrapbooking shop.  I have a sense of humour.  I am addicted to flatback pearls and chiffon.
That's enough about me for now.  I better introduce you to Retailgirls designer for 2014 Tash and she can tell you about what we are up to.  I feel a giveaway coming on!!
The shoe box that started it all.
Bye for now
Big Hugs
Louise
